Apparently I've been tagged by :iconjillyfoo: So here I go.

~1. Post these rules.
~2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about their self on their journal.
~3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people and post their icons on the same journal.
~4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
~5. No tag-backs.

1. I am easily irritated.
2. I studied German for 4 years in high school, and took a year of Spanish in college, and can't speak either one. Unless I'm really drunk.
3. I'm always on the look out for new and interesting stories.
4. I love Geology.
5. I have a hard time watching movies and can only do it if I'm also doing something else like bead work or futzing around on the computer. Or annoying other people who are trying to watch the movie.
6. I'm still in love with my high school crush even though I haven't seen or heard from him in 8 years.
7. My siblings think I'm a lesbian.
8. My favorite kind of love story involves lost chances and years of not seeing what's right in front of you. Like When Harry Met Sally.

Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable tagging people who are basically random strangers, so if you read this and feel like doing it, consider yourself tagged. Otherwise . . .

End of the school year

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 23, 2008, 7:27 PM
I am finally graduating from college! YAY! Now to find a job in my field! PANIC! What is my field? I don't know! I don't think I have one! BOOO!

At any rate, I haven't been able to finish the tarot cards within the school year, which means I'll be taking the final leg of the project on the road, so to speak, in that now I actually have to go buy silk screen equipment in order to complete the project. Not so bad, really when you consider the amount of work I took on by deciding on doing the project entirely through traditional print media. IN any case, I've got final prints of all the major arcana, the pents and cups to finish off, and actually all of the reliefs to print, which is another portion I plan on finishing at home. For this site, it means I'll now be uploading final versions of the cards I have completed. So hurray and all.

The Cups aren't turning out the way I'd like, either. I think it's because I suck at lithography. I try to go too heavy on the ink and too forceful with the roller, so it really fills in and gets messed up. Hopefully the remaining six will print better, but I don't hold out all that much hope for it. Well, too late now at any rate. Maybe in the future I'll make another deck. I'd want to start everything over from scratch, though, so the thought of making another deck is rather off putting. Well, that's something to decide later.

Also, I've been looking for a job. Anyone hiring?

Progress

So the major arcana is completed and printed and I finally did the final prints of the pentacles suite. NOw that I've got my lithography supplies I can start on the cups. So. Intaglio stage done! Next week, though, I'm going to focus on printing backs on all the cards, ALL the cards, which at 78 cards per, and 5 decks of, ammounts to 390 cards all told :tears: On the bright side, I've already printed 77 backs. Only 313 to go!

And then I have to make two more suites, do the final prints of the swords, and paint the fronts of some of them, and label them all. :worry:

more cards and such

I'm now working on completing the major arcana. Woo!

In other news, I've also added some older stuff that's too big for the scanner. I apologize for my poor photographing abilities, as they are a mite fuzzy in parts. I have some other things I want to photograph as well, so hopefully I'll get better at it, or something.

Pentacles now

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 12, 2007, 11:28 AM
I started working on the pentacles suite for my grand tarot card project, and it's going pretty well. I've got ten drawn, with seven plates made. For some reason about four of them are all about GARDENING. Yeah, I don't know either. I think it's because the knight makes me think about farmers or something.

All I've got left to design are the court cards, and then I'll have finished the basic work of the suite. Printing them is another matter, of course. I think I'll do a relief role on top of the basic intaglio inking, and see how that works. I hope it won't be too busy. Another thing I'm worried about is how well the pentacles themselves show up in the image. I might have to try and figure out a way to make them stand out more. The primary idea is to relief role them with a different color than the rest of the card, but I want to do some more proofing before I decide.

I'm applying to grad school after I decide which ones, and I've also got a fifteen page paper to write for my lit class so this month'll be pretty busy, I guess. In other news, I turn 26 and my sister turns 30 on Friday! Drinking and karaoke, go!
